Autism Berkshire is delighted to be able to offer an enhanced advice service for 2018 to autistic adults and to parents and carers of children with autism living in Slough, as part of the SPACE (Slough Prevention Alliance Community Engagement) scheme.
SPACE brings together more than 40 local charities and organisations, led by Slough Council for Voluntary Services, to provide residents of the Borough of Slough with information and advice about all aspects of daily living.
Autism Berkshire is providing autism-specific advice as part of the project.
We will continue to run our popular weekly drop-in advice session for autistic adults and parents and carers of children and young people with autism at the YES Shop in the Queensmere Observatory Shopping Centre in Slough town centre every Wednesday, between 10am and 2pm.
In addition, we are now able to provide benefits advice appointments with our expert adviser Kevin Jackson at the YES Shop every Wednesday, offering help with claims for the following benefits:
- Carer’s Allowance
- Disability Living Allowance
- Employment & Support Allowance
- Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Personal Independence Payment
- Universal Credit.
Please note that appointments for benefits advice must be booked in advance by calling Kevin Jackson or Claire Finnerty at the Autism Berkshire office on 01189 594 594, or emailing email@example.com
Jane Stanford-Beale, the chief executive officer of Autism Berkshire, said: “Our weekly drop-in advice sessions at the YES Shop have proved popular since we launched them last year.
“We are pleased to now also be able to deliver face-to-face benefits appointments in Slough, to help autistic adults and parents and carers in families living with autism.
“Until now the benefits service has only been available at our office in Reading, so people living in Slough will now be able to get Kevin’s help without having to travel across Berkshire.”
Ramesh Kukar, the chief executive of Slough CVS, said: “It has been an amazing process to pull together over 40 local organisations into a combined plan that will make such a difference to people in the local community who need advice, care and support.”
