Berkshire Autistic Society was set up in 1990 by parents of children with autism, autism-related problems and challenging behaviours. We now have over 300 members including individuals, families and professionals.
The main aims of the Society are:

to provide a comprehensive advice and information service for parents and professionals.

to offer support to parents and carers via monthly meetings and social events.

to improve education, respite care, leisure activities and other services across Berkshire.

to offer support for adults with autistic spectrum disorders and their families.

We deal with a wide variety of enquiries including where to go for a diagnosis, help for the newly diagnosed, problems with education, employment and respite, claiming Disability Living Allowance, signposting to services and resources. Most of our staff and volunteers have personal experience of living with autism so you can be sure that we will do our best to support you.
We are also able to take enquiries and bookings for BAS run training and social events and membership applications.

- Library - Our library includes books and booklets for reference, lending and purchase, and a wealth of other useful information. Information and advice on matters relating to benefits is also available.
- Speaker Meetings - We invite speakers of special interest to cover a wide range of topics. Parents and carers of all special needs children and adults are welcome to attend the meetings, as are all professional people with an interest in autism and Asperger Syndrome.
