Pokémon Plus is a fun activity for all the family. Children on the spectrum, their siblings and friends are welcome to come and play Pokémon on the Nintendo DS and Wii or play the Pokemon trading card game. It runs two Saturdays a month all year and is ideal for children aged 7 to 19 of mainstream ability.
It is an official Pokémon League venue so the children can "battle" other "trainers" one to one to earn rewards and take part in our knockout tournament if they want to. We have DS’s and Pokémon games available to borrow if needed and a choice of non Pokémon Games on the Wii and Game Cube for siblings not so keen on Pokémon!
It is held at Katesgrove Children Centre which has lots of room to relax and play and if the weather is good, there is a secure outdoor area for the children to use. There is a small car park. map directions
Parents must stay or thanks to a grant from Reading Borough Council, we have 20 supervised places available with our trained Play Workers so Mum and Dad can go off and have a well earned break. Priority for those places is given to families who live in Reading Borough.
If you want to take up a supervised place, you need to complete a registration form, with details of your child’s individual care needs in advance of booking a place, so we can be sure we can meet your child's needs . These are available from the BAS office and Pokémon Plus sessions.Parents must stay for the first visit or until your child is comfortable being left.
There is a pleasant room available for parents to use with tea and coffee making facilities if you stay on site.
Each session costs £2.50 per BAS member child or £4.00 for non-members. Payment is made on the door.
Please note we are unable to offer 1 to 1 support or personal care.
Pre booking is essential and places are limited - so book early! Booking can be made up to 2 sessions in advance via the BAS office or at Pokémon Plus.
