BAS Office Opening - Friday 9th December 2011

Wednesday 14th December 2011

MP Alok Sharma cuts the ribbon

Thank you to all Committee Members, staff and volunteers who helped make the office opening such a success. Over 50 people attended including representatives from Reading BC, West Berks Council, Bracknell FC, Wokingham BC, RBWM, Newbridge Nursery, Brookfields School, Kingwood, NHS, ASD Family Help, commercial companies, previous/current funders and staff and of course Committee members, BAS staff, members of the adult social group, our members and volunteers.

We invited The Mayor of Reading, Debs Edwards, and MP Alok Sharma to open the event. The Mayor cut the cake and 'praised the BAS team for delivering such a wide base of services ... with limited resources and in such a challenging financial climate’. The Mayor works with many charities and has offered partnership working in future fundraising events.

MP Alok Sharma cut the ribbon to open the office, he said how BAS have supported his family when his nephew was recently diagnosed and reiterated how valuable the post diagnosis information and support BAS provides. Mr Sharma has also offered a fundraising event – VIP tour of the Houses of Parliament in 2012.

Member Victor Burry took some amazing photos of the event - many thanks Victor!

A big thank you also to Jane May for donating soft drinks and crisps and helping set up in the morning.
