Windsor ASD Support Group

BAS offers monthly meetings during term time in Windsor so that local parents can meet each other. The meetings are free, very informal and tea, coffee and cakes are provided! Tricia Kempton, who volunteers with BAS, organises and attends the meetings. She is the parent of a young person on the Autistic Spectrum.

A speaker is usually invited to come along to talk about a relevant topic and to answer questions as well as having time to catch up with each others news and a chat. Topics have included social stories, managing behaviour, anxiety, Disability Living Allowance, visual support strategies and more! Members of the ASD Children and Young People’s Team (SAMS) and the Adult ASD Team are also invited to attend regularly so that parents can ask them for professional advice and find out about their services.

There is a selection of books for parents to browse or borrow as well as news and information about what’s going on in the area. If Tricia don’t know the answer to any question, she will do her best to find someone who does!

Tricia is happy to talk to or meet up with new members if they’d like to know more and understands that attending something for the first time can feel rather daunting.  Do give her a call so she can introduce herself before you go along!

Non members are also very welcome and we can explain the benefits of membership should you wish to consider joining us.

Windsor meetings are held on the first Wednesday morning of the month, term time only, from 10 am - 12 noon.

From September 2012 they will be held at the following new venue: Windsor Youth and Community Centre, Alma Road, Windsor SL4 3HD.
