Job opportunity for Benefits Caseworker with Autism Berkshire

Due to increasing demand for help from Autism Berkshire’s Benefits Service, we have a job vacancy for a part-time Benefits Service Caseworker to assist our Benefits Manager Kevin Jackson.

Since the expansion of the service since 2017 to include advice appointments for Slough residents as part of the SPACE project and offering representation at benefits appeal hearings, the caseload has grown by 40 per cent.

Kevin has a strong track record of success, achieving positive outcomes for about 90% of the clients he helps and securing benefits back payments totalling almost £130,000 at appeal tribunals in the past two years.

The caseworker’s role will involve delivering one-to-one advice and benefits workshops, handling telephone enquiries, administration and the scheduling of appointments, workshops, benefit assessments and appeal hearings.

The post is based at our office in Reading town centre but the successful applicant will be expected to help provide benefits advice in Slough on occasion.

We encourage informal visits to our office, prior to application, to discuss the role. If interested in taking up this offer, please contact our chief executive office, Jane Stanford-Beale, by email at ceo@autismberkshire.org.uk or call our office on 01189 594 594.

Applications will close at noon on Friday, September 27, with interviews taking place on Monday, October 7.
