Autism Berkshire is providing a free online Chop & Chat course, for autistic young people and adults (aged 18+) who live in Berkshire.
The course is made up of eight friendly weekly classes, focused around preparing and cooking/baking a tasty simple snack, getting advice and sharing ideas for problem-solving, enjoying some light-hearted conversation games, plus time to chat.
It would be helpful if those taking part have access to a kitchen with a cooker.
As we cannot run group sessions, which we did with a Chop & Chat course held a year ago in Slough, we will help people taking part to pay for the ingredients they will need for each recipe.
The course will take place on Tuesday afternoons from February 9 to March 30, between 4pm and 6pm, running on Zoom.
The course will be led by Helen Harris, who co-ordinates our Bear With Me social group in Maidenhead and our community learning courses for adults, and our family support worker Amanda Walker.
To take part in this Chop & Chat course you must have an autism diagnosis, be aged 18 or above, and live in Berkshire.
Click here to complete our online form to register an interest in taking part in the course. We will then get in touch for an informal discussion to make sure it is suitable for you or a member of your family.
- This Chop & Chat course is funded by a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund’s Covid-19 response programme.
