Free advice workshops focus on Transition to Adulthood

The Berkshire West Autism & ADHD Support Service is providing two free online workshops about the Transition to Adulthood next week for parents and carers of young people next week.

They will help parents and carers to find out about options and advice available to young people who are autistic and/or have ADHD and moving on from education, as well as taking a look at supported routes into the workplace for neurodivergent young people in the west of Berkshire.

The workshops are:

  • Wednesday, July 10, 10am to 11.30am: Leaving School/Education – What’s Next? with information about support available for young people transitioning to adulthood. With speakers from the SEND Local Offer Directory teams from Reading, Wokingham and West Berkshire councils – click here for more details and to register.
  • Friday, July 12, 10am to 11.30am: Supported Internships for young autistic and ADHD people, with Maurice George, the CEO of Berkshire-based Ways into Work, talking about supported internships and answering your questions – click here for more details and to register.

Please note that due to NHS funding rules, you must be registered with a GP surgery that is in the Berkshire West NHS area (Reading, Wokingham and West Berkshire) to be eligible to attend these transition workshops – click here for a list of the surgeries.

  • If you have any questions about these workshops, or any other support available from the service, please email contact@autismberkshire.org.uk or call 01189 594 594 (option 1) and leave a voicemail message.
