Autism Berkshire is launching new activities to support and empower autistic adults in Reading to live independently and improve their wellbeing for the next three years.
These activities are supported by Reading Borough Council’s Closing the Gap project, which will see more than £4 million spent on services to improve residents’ health and wellbeing, reduce loneliness and inequalities, and provide support for carers and those facing poverty and debt.

Autistic adults, aged 18 and above, who are residents of the Reading Borough Council area can benefit from:
- Individual advice delivered online, by telephone or face-to-face at a venue in central Reading
- A group for young autistic adults, aged under 30, meeting in central Reading
- A group for autistic women, meeting in central Reading
- A monthly Lunch Club, meeting at the Toby Carvery Caversham Bridge
- Chop & Chat life and social skills courses
- Volunteering courses
- Travel training with rail and bus operators
The first session of the Reading group for autistic women will take place next Monday, November 17, from 11.30am to 1pm at the Atrium coffeeshop at Greyfriars Church, in Friar Street, close to town centre bus stops and a short walk from the railway station.
The first meeting of the Reading Lunch Club will take place on Tuesday, November 25, from noon to 2pm.
The group for young adults will hold its first meeting in January next year.
Please note that you must be registered in advance to attend these activities.
