Helpline Adviser & Adult Autism Mentor

The role

Autism Berkshire provides the Berkshire Adult Autism Support Service to help autistic/neurodivergent adults in the county, and their parents/family carers, on behalf of the NHS Thames Valley Integrated Care Board, and has a vacancy for a part-time Helpline Adviser & Adult Autism Mentor.

Knowledge and experience of autism and neurodivergence is essential for this role. The postholder will advise and support autistic adults who have are self-diagnosed, waiting for assessment or have a diagnosis, helping them to access health, education, community, and other services throughout Berkshire.

We welcome applications from people who have volunteered in similar roles.

The role is home-based but the successful applicant will need access to a car and to be able to travel to locations across Berkshire to support clients and attend face-to-face problem-solving & advice meet-ups and other meetings.

The post is offered on the basis of 15 hours of work per week on a contract basis, at a rate of £13.25 per hour, plus holiday pay, for a fixed term until October 31, 2026, with the possibility of renewal, subject to funding.

Trustees

Autism Berkshire always welcomes interest from potential volunteer trustees to help guide its work delivering a wide range of advice, support, training and leisure activities throughout the county.

We want to hear from people who have a personal commitment to making a difference to the lives of autistic people and their families and the drive and enthusiasm to take the charity forward, including autistic adults, parents/carers of autistic children, young people and adult, and professionals with business skills, management experience and understanding of charities.
