Autism Berkshire is launching free drop-in advice sessions in April for the parents and carers of autistic children and teenagers who live in Reading, taking place at two of the town’s new Best Start in Life Family Hubs.
They are for parents and carers of children and teenagers (aged up to 17) who have an autism diagnosis, are waiting for assessment or where autism is suspected.
The venues are:
Best Start In Life Southcote Family Hub, at Southcote Community Hub, in Coronation Street.
Sessions here will normally take place on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month, between 9.30am and 11am.
The sessions during the summer school term are on the following dates: April 22; May 13; June 10 & 24; July 8.
Best Start In Life East & North Reading Family Hub, at Sun Street Community Hub.
Sessions here will normally take place on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month between 9.30am and 11am.
The sessions during the summer school term are on the following dates: April 23; May 14; June 11 & 25; July 9.

Autism Berkshire’s Chief Executive Officer, Jane Stanford-Beale, said: “Similar drop-in advice sessions that we provide for autistic adults and their parents and family carers in Reading and elsewhere have proved popular since their launch in 2023.
“I hope that the parents and carers of children and teenagers who live in Reading will find these new sessions just as useful.
“Please remember that we can advise and support you, whether a child has an autism diagnosis, is waiting for a Berkshire CAMHS assessment, or when there are just indications that a child could be autistic.
“Wherever you live in Reading, you are welcome to come along to either Family Hub to speak to our family support workers.”
