The Autism Berkshire team enjoyed a great day out at Reading’s inaugural A Different World Festival on Saturday.
The event, held at Reading Abbey Rugby Club, near Emmer Green, was a music festival tailored for young people and adults with additional needs, featuring a dozen live bands playing through the afternoon and into the evening.
It was organised by Simon and Louise Turner, whose teenage son Sam has autism.
He loves music but can’t cope with busy events like the Reading Festival, so his parents decided to organise A Different World to give Sam, his friends and people like them the chance to enjoy the atmosphere of a festival in an safe and supportive environment.
We were delighted to meet and talk to plenty of Autism Berkshire members and their families during the afternoon and are already looking forward to next year’s festival.
