Fantastic Reading Buses’ Open Day makes big difference to our fundraising

Reading Buses’ 2018 Open Day was a stunning success and gave a great boost to the amount being raised for Autism Berkshire as the company’s 2018 Charity of the Year.

The event, on Sunday, July 1, was the biggest single fundraising event of our year-long partnership – but watch out for news of more activities coming up soon.

The day was blessed with fine summer weather, helping to draw in visitors from far and wide to enjoy the colourful displays of buses new and old and all sorts of activities.

As well as the chance to see behind the scenes at Reading Buses’ depot in Great Knollys Street, including the workshops, or take a trip through the double-decker bus wash, children could enjoy slime-making at the Autism Berkshire stand, or get a new look from the hardworking face-painting team and tackle some sporting skills challenges.

Our thanks go to everyone who visited the event, to the team at Reading Buses for all the hard work put into staging the event and making it run smoothly, and to the team of Autism Berkshire volunteers who supported us.
