Free advice workshops on way for parents & carers of autistic adults

The Berkshire Adult Autism Support Service is running two free online autism advice workshops for the parents and family carers of autistic adults this autumn.

The aim of these sessions is to share key advice and tips and help participants increase their understanding of aspects of autism and their confidence when supporting their relatives – the partners and siblings of autistic adults are also encouraged to attend.

Please note that for you to be eligible to attend, the person you care for must be registered as a patient with an NHS GP surgery in Berkshire.

We recommend that parents and carers attend both sessions to get the most benefit from them, as the topics they cover complement each other.

You are welcome to attend whether the person you support has an autism diagnosis, is waiting for an assessment or they are self-diagnosed.

They will take place on Zoom on Wednesday evenings, between 6pm and 8pm, as follows

  • Sensory Differences and Executive Functioning: September 30
  • Anxiety & Autism and Understanding Other People: October 14

Free places at both workshops can be requested by contacting the Berkshire Adult Autism Support Service by email at adult.support@autismberkshire.org.uk or calling 01189 594 594 (option 2) and leaving a voicemail message.

An extra parent or carer from a family is welcome to join the session without needing a separate booking.

  • Please note that these workshops are not open to paid professional carers or personal assistants.
